Hotel Herzblut

Check-in was easy even though we arrived late, after reception hours. The receptionist had left the keys and clear instructions for parking and access, which was really helpful. The room was clean and the bed was good. Breakfast had lots of hot and cold choices, and the coffee was delicious. I just wish there had been a kettle or machine in the room so I could have coffee there in the morning.

The hotel and its staff were nice, but the management made this a terrible stay. I'd paid in advance through WeSki after travelling from the U.K., yet on arrival late at night I was told the hotel hadn't received payment and had to pay hundreds of euros. I pleaded, but was told to pay or leave. It turned out to be a mistake in the hotel's system. Getting my money back took more than a week and was an awful experience because of the owner's attitude. They initially offered only cash, even though I'd paid by card. After a lot of back and forth, the hotel transferred the money to my bank, but wouldn't cover the bank fees, so I was left £20 out of pocket. Also, WeSki advertised it as ski in ski out, which isn't true. It's well outside the town centre and some distance from the lifts.

The little river alongside the walk into town made the trip there and back pleasant, and I actually liked the walk each morning and afternoon. The wellness area isn't extensive, though the sauna and relaxation space are nice. I generally liked the hotel. The rooms, facilities and food were fine, and we had no problems.

The staff were genuinely helpful, polite and nice, and the hotel itself is pretty, with comfortable rooms. Still, the price felt extremely high for what was provided. Breakfast was well below what I've had at other Austrian hotels with the same star rating. On some mornings there wasn't even cutlery or napkins.
