The location is excellent, and the staff were efficient. But for Salzburg, the price felt far too high for this level of comfort. The rooms are worn and old, with no air conditioning. Loose electrical outlets sparked when I plugged in my phone, which felt dangerous. Even my cheap student accommodation years ago was in better shape. Two of the three staff members I dealt with seemed so miserable that I hope they find another line of work for their own wellbeing.

For $130, I got a twin bed, and I only stayed because I couldn't find anywhere else. I knew it was a twin, but at that price I expected the basics to be handled properly. I wouldn't recommend this overpriced hotel at all. The room door was wide open when I arrived on the second floor, and the windows were open too. It was December and freezing, so it took ages for the room to become even remotely warm. The flat sheet kept sliding off because there was no fitted sheet, leaving my skin against the mattress. If you're in room 203, the shower pressure drops after starting strong, and the water cools from hot to lukewarm. Getting checked in was confusing. I got several emails from Neutor with different front desk closing times, 5, 9, or 10 o'clock. There are four hotels, two pairs across the street from each other, and I couldn't tell which one I was meant to use based on my arrival time. I went to the one across the street from mine because it was open. The receptionist was busy chatting with a friend and getting cookies, and they laughed together before she eventually checked me in. Checking out was even worse. My building's desk was closed, so I had to cross the street, but that desk was closed too. A doorstop in my lobby was wedged in a way that kept the door shut and made it hard to get out, a fire safety issue. I'm disabled, and another guest had to force it open for me. By then I'd missed my airport bus, which passed while I was walking back and forth. An employee at the breakfast buffet told me to wait and suggested I use the restroom, sit and relax. I was furious. I went back to look for the other hotel sharing my building, saw a guest struggling with the keycard reader, and another customer opened the door with their card. A man was still trying the door; he didn't look like staff, but turned out to work there. I told him I had a flight, needed to reach the airport, and needed to check out right away because every desk was closed and I'd missed the bus. He was patient with me. We crossed the street again, I handed over my keycard, and he typed for a while. When I asked if I could go, he said I still had to pay the city tax. I was angry that the receptionist hadn't asked for it the night before. I paid and left. I skipped breakfast at €19 because it seemed overpriced. It was also served across the street, not in my building, so you'd have to walk outside in bad weather if you wanted it. The emails about check-in were confusing too, with different front desk hours listed, and I never worked out which of the four hotels I was meant to go to.

The WiFi was incredibly slow and kept dropping out, presumably because it was an open network shared with the neighbors. There was no one at the desk at night since it was in the other hotel across the street. During my six-day stay, almost no cleaning was done. The rooms were badly outdated and poorly ventilated, with a constant buzzing noise from the hall. Both safes were broken, the bathroom fan didn't work, the sink leaked and the shower drained badly. If you just need somewhere to sleep for one night, you might find it acceptable. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

The location is good, but the room looked nothing like the website photos, despite the desk employee insisting it did. There were heavy stains all over, and I wouldn't walk on the carpet barefoot. It felt like a bait and switch, so we found somewhere else to stay. The manager has still refused to refund our money. Beware.

The location made the room worth the price, and I'd recommend it to people wanting to see the city. Check-in was quick and easy, though we had to do it at the hotel across the street, which seemed odd. The lift is small, only room for two people and two bags, but that wasn't a problem for us. We expected a double bed and got two singles pushed together; they kept drifting apart overnight. There was no air conditioning, and the room got very hot. The window was actually a door, and the wind kept swinging it.
