Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten

We stayed in September 2025 and found the hotel completely redone. The modern bathrooms and lovely rooms made a great impression, and the service was stellar. As travelers from the US, we especially appreciated the USB and USB-C outlets built into the walls by the nightstands. We loved the location and our whole stay. Would recommend!

I paid for two nights, but left after the first because the room was too cold to sleep in. The staff were kind and friendly, but that couldn’t make up for the experience. There were no slippers, and the freezing floors made it hard to relax. There’s no sauna either. The location was fairly convenient, around a 15 minute walk from the train station, with Uber as an option, and it’s easy to walk around since it’s a small town. The furniture looks new after the recent renovation, but the insulation seems old, and the heater/fireplace couldn’t warm the room properly. The walls were painfully cold to touch, including the wall shared with the next room, which made me think the insulation problems extended throughout the building. The heater was beside the window, one of the coldest spots in winter, and the heat seemed to escape faster than the room could warm up. No matter how long it was on, the room never got comfortable. The fresh design may look good now, but I suspect the condition could deteriorate in another 2-3 years, so keep the date of this review in mind. The heating issue seemed easy enough to understand: hot air rises, cold air sinks, and heat moves from warmer areas to colder ones. If you can tolerate a cold room, maybe this is a 4 star stay, but for me it was 1 star. A warm room is one of the most necessary things in a hotel.

This recently renovated boutique hotel is beautiful, with comfortable rooms and phenomenal service. The staff were friendly and attentive. It’s one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in, and we’re looking forward to coming back.

Schloss Mirabell is nearby, with the connection to the 1965 movie Sound of Music. I was happy with the hotel and staff, and with everything else too. The only small drawback was the elevator, which fits just a few people.
