June Six Salzburg, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The riverwalk to the main square is lovely, though it takes about 20 minutes and may be a long walk for some people. We stayed at the Mayburg hotel over Christmas, when the decorations looked beautiful and the staff were cheerful and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious and filling, and the gluwein at night kept us warm. Thanks to the Mayburg staff for such a magical stay.

The room was spacious, and the staff were acceptable, but the location was inconvenient and the uneven stone paths made luggage hard to manage. What really spoiled the stay was the WiFi: despite the hotel advertising free access, the registration process automatically selected a paid option and charged me €20. That's unacceptable at a Marriott-branded hotel, especially when even budget places offer free WiFi. Salzburg has better-value hotels with genuinely free WiFi and a more convenient location.

I was very disappointed. The staff were extremely rude, and the place felt like a scam, nowhere near Marriott standard. The table and wall were broken, the bed felt itchy even after I changed rooms, some lights didn't work, and the shower was broken.

Restaurants and a supermarket are close by, and local transport is just a block away. The hotel is also not far from the train station, with some major attractions within walking distance. The staff were very helpful.
