Motel One Salzburg-Süd

We only stayed one night to see the Salzburg Christmas Market, and the hotel worked well for that. Buses to the old town stop right outside, the room was clean and nice, and the staff were friendly enough by Austrian standards. Having covered parking was a real plus.

A good pick if you're arriving by car, with underground parking for 11 euros. The standard rooms were nice, clean and seemed quite new. There's also a cozy lounge with some great drinks.

The bar on site was nice and not overpriced. The rooms had enough space, but were very basic, with no coffee or bottled water, and only basic toiletries. There was no moisture. The mattress and pillows were poor quality, which really matters when you need good sleep after a tiring day in Salzburg.

The rooms are quiet, which is my top priority, and Motel One has never let me down on that. There's a large supermarket across the parking lot where you can pick up coffee, breakfast and other supplies. Public transport is convenient too, though it takes about 20 minutes to get into town. One receptionist seemed to be having a bad day. She didn't greet us, smile, or say she'd be with us shortly, which was a bit sad. Her colleague was friendly, though, and everyone has an off day.
