This is a good apartment for the price, with a few things to do nearby. A week would probably be enough unless you plan to swim often or are happy to drive 3-4 hours to get somewhere. The downstairs flat has a living room, kitchen, two double bedrooms, and two bathrooms, one of which is just a toilet. There’s a sofa bed, TV, and electric blinds in the living room. The kitchen has a stove, toaster, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, cutlery, and other basics, with a dining table for six. Parking is right outside. Water is barely visible from the downstairs units, and the Wi-Fi signal and bandwidth were both poor down there. There were no toilet paper or dishwasher tablets, and no mop, vacuum, or washing machine in the room, those have to be requested. The kitchen is missing a knife and a colander or similar for draining pasta, and there aren’t many spare utensils if some are in the dishwasher. Larger crumbs get stuck in the toaster and are hard to clean, and the tap water is quite hard. The dining chairs’ felt pads are old, porous, and crumbling, so best not to touch them and make a mess. In the bathroom, cables are visible behind the cabinet and mirror. The bathtub is more of a sitz bath, and the stool is provided, but the pipes behind it get in the way. You can hear any movement upstairs from the downstairs bedroom. The wardrobe has only one shelf, so it isn’t very practical for clothes. One door is wooden, while the opaque one lets hallway light through. Each window has a roller blind, but one cord has snapped and lets in a faint ray of light. That window also has no mosquito net, unlike the other. The mattresses tend to shift, and there’s a crack in the picture that you can’t see without light. It’s advisable to lock the door at night. The adjacent mountain has a viewing platform overlooking villages, mountains, a river, and two or three lakes. There are other worthwhile sights farther away. For swimming, Lake Turner has clearer water than Lake Klopein, though it has no water games. On land there are a bouncy castle, table tennis, swings, loungers, and a hammock. Lake Klopein’s water isn’t very clear, the bottom at the entry point isn’t ideal, and there are a trampoline and platform in the water. The food there is just okay. There are plenty of dining options in town. Nearby sights include Meerauge, a natural rock formation, and Märchenwiese, a fairytale meadow, with somewhere to eat nearby. There’s also a panoramic viewing platform on the adjacent mountain. One tip: as with any provider, contact them directly to see if there might be a better price. In Austria, bank withdrawals are limited to about €400 a day, and many restaurants and other places only take cash.

The location is handy for exploring: Lake Klopein, Lake Klein, and Lake Turner are each about a five-minute drive away, and the last has a meadow by the property’s private lake access. All the lakes are pleasantly warm and have excellent water quality. Lake Klopein is the tourism hub, with a nice promenade, good restaurants at reasonable prices, shops including SPAR, Penny, and Billa, gas stations, and the option to attend Mass in St. Kanzian, 5 km from the property. Hiking and cycling trails start right at the house. I’d recommend stopping at a traditional Buschenschänken for homemade bacon, cider, Kaiserschmarrn, and whatever else they offer. The people in the region are open, cheerful, and down to earth. If you approach them with decency, respect, and openness, you’ll quickly make friends. I spent September 2023 here on my own and enjoyed my stay with the lovely landlady, Mrs. Pointner. The house is beautiful, bright, and modern, with spacious apartments for families or groups and unobstructed views of the high mountains and Lake Turner. My small ground-floor apartment had a large terrace and was well equipped with a shower, toilet, desk, wardrobe, kitchenette, kitchen utensils, and a double bed for one person. Ms. Pointner gave me excellent tips on what I needed to know and even did my laundry. She made my stay at the comfortable Schönblick apartment in Unternarrach, between Lake Turner and Lake Klopein, a wonderful holiday. Highly recommended. Many thanks, and best regards! Bernhard

The house is in a peaceful spot with a stunning view over Lake Turnersee, and Lake Klopein and lots of excursion options are only minutes away. The landlady is very friendly, always available with useful tips and information. The apartment has excellent amenities, with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. We’d gladly return anytime.

I’ve never rented a better holiday place. The apartment is in perfect condition, and the view is absolutely stunning, just like the pictures show. The Pointner family has really set a new standard.
