I had a booking for the end of February and needed to cancel almost three weeks ahead for personal reasons. I called the owner twice to explain, and Booking operators called three times too, but the owner still refused a refund. I know the booking was non-refundable, and I understand running a business is hard. I also understand that canceling at short notice or during a busy period could mean covering costs. But with so much notice, I find this embarrassing. The owner asked whether I had travel insurance to recover the money. Booking's operators also said situations like this with plenty of lead time are usually resolved amicably, and that the owner's refusal was an exception. It's my loss, but be cautious. It may look cheaper, but in some situations it isn't.

The host Klaus is wonderful, and the apartment is beautifully alpine in style. Fantastic location too!
