Gasthof Cafe Zillertal

We were here with family on a cycling tour, and the hotel restaurant is well worth a try. The food was really tasty and the portions generous. Our rooms had a good view, the staff were great, and we’d definitely recommend staying here.

The evening meals were slop, including on Christmas evening. Breakfast was the same each day: cold cuts, fruit, scrambled powdered eggs, and sometimes pigs in blankets. Still, the Christmas break in Austria had lovely views and fresh air, and both breakfast and dinner were included.

The hotel has so much charm. Dinner was the best: I loved the garlic soup, stuffed veal, beef medallions, and those potato things that looked like egg rolls. I don’t even know what they’re called, but they were delicious.

They have a place to store skis and boots, plus a big room with a dance floor for entertainment. We spent a week here on a ski trip, and the slopes weren’t too far away. The food was a little salty and there wasn’t much veg, though that seems to be the case everywhere in Austria! The hotelier was great, and we had a great stay.
