Elaya Hotel Vienna City West

The location worked really well for sightseeing, with the underground station at the top of the street to get wherever you need to go. The bedrooms were good, with large showers and bathrooms, comfortable beds, a safe we used, and a coffee machine we didn't. The TV had no English channels. Air conditioning was set and couldn't be adjusted, but I was glad the windows opened because I like a cold bedroom. When we asked for another pillow, we were told there weren't any, even though the hotel didn't seem full. There are complimentary hot drinks from 9am to 6pm, which was a nice extra, but the reception area felt cold and uninviting. Some interior design could make it much cozier. The receptionist didn't make us feel welcome either. She asked for our passports and handed us a form, without telling us breakfast times or making any welcoming small talk. Breakfast in the basement was another letdown. The bare room looked cold and could be made more welcoming. There wasn't much choice: stale cereal, room-temperature milk, no toaster, and bacon that was all rind. There was fresh bread, cheese, ham, scrambled egg, small croissants, fruit yoghurt, occasional tiny hot dog sausages, diluted juice, and coffee. It's fine as a base, but not a place I'd want to hang around.

The hotel is in a nice spot near U3, just one stop from Westbahnof or Landstraße, so it's easy to get around the city. Our room was spacious and clean, the hotel was very quiet, and the staff were welcoming and friendly.

We spent two days here on our Vienna trip. The staff were helpful, and the hotel was clean and tidy, just as pictured. It's close to the metro and in a good location. They also have herbal teas in the lobby.

Zieglergass metro station is right around the corner, and the Maria Hilfer pedestrian zone is about 500 meters away. The hotel sits on a quiet street with little traffic. Breakfast is available, and hot drinks are served in the lobby all day. Rooms are cleaned and tidied every three days or on request. Good value overall.
