Moxy Vienna City East

The cheerful staff deserve credit for working over Christmas and still being so kind and helpful. The room was clean and organized, the toilet was good, and the toiletries were especially nice. The hotel is close to Erdberg metro station. There isn't much storage, and no wardrobe at all. No kettle or water bottles are provided, though there's a communal hot water dispenser downstairs. Ironing boards aren't in the rooms, but there's an ironing station on other floors. A laundromat for guests would be more useful than the gym. A vending machine with snacks and essentials like bandaids or tampons would also help.

Smoke outside the main entrance was a recurring nuisance. People often smoked right by the door, and wind carried it into the lobby and even the breakfast restaurant. That made eating unpleasant, and staff didn't address it after we mentioned it. Service felt quite limited, as if staffing had been significantly cut and cost savings were taking priority over guest comfort. Housekeeping did only the bare minimum, breakfast was mediocre, and our room had no towels at check-in. Getting them meant going down to the lobby and waiting a long time in the queue. There was no safe or lockbox and no closet in the room, though the basic room itself was fine.

The heavy cast iron covers over the beans and scrambled eggs at breakfast were awkward to handle, with nowhere to set them down. Someone older or with a disability could have real trouble, and it might lead to an accident. We also noticed an odd smell when entering the rooms, both here and at the Moxy in Cork, where we stayed last year. Maybe it’s just a new-building smell, but it stood out to us, especially to the women. Still, the room was clean, comfortable, and felt safe with its electronic door, the staff were helpful, and the beer at the bar was great. We had a terrific time in Cork too, and this was another good stay. Moxy is still my first choice wherever we travel. Thanks!

The rooms are on the tiny side, though they have the basic amenities. Staff were really friendly and helpful throughout, and the breakfast selection was decent. As a platinum member, I could also use the daily F&B vouchers. A nice stay, with the usual cool, relaxed feel of a Marriott Moxy.
