Simm’s Hotel – the cityhotel next to Metro U3

The hotel is clean and very well located near metro and tram stops, but the first night left me feeling unwelcome. We were staying four nights over Christmas with our small child, and had booked a double or twin comfort room. When we asked the receptionist for a good room, she said we had booked one, then put us in an accessible room with an old shower curtain and an accessible toilet. The two beds were only pushed together and could slide apart, even though it was clear we were a family and our child might sleep with us. There was an extra bed for him, but no slippers in the room or at reception. It was late and we were tired, so we stayed that night. In the morning, a gentleman at reception quickly sorted it out and moved us to a lovely room for the other three nights. It had a large window and a great view, a double bed, a glass shower door, and two pairs of slippers. I’m grateful to him, but still wonder why the first receptionist gave us the worst room. Was it her decision or hotel policy? Either way, it didn’t feel hospitable. The heated towel rails barely worked in either room and were almost cold. Staff fixed them on the third day, after I’d asked twice at reception. Breakfast was nearly the same each morning, and as a vegetarian I didn’t find much choice. When I asked about decaf coffee, the answer was just “No,” with no alternatives. For a stay longer than one night, I probably wouldn’t book breakfast.

The first of our two nights was fine, with the room in normal condition. On the second night, though, we found an insect. I can’t say whether it was a bed bug or a cockroach, but it was unpleasant. We showed a video to the receptionist, who said she couldn’t see anything and seemed to brush it off. She said she’d check later, but never did. We were moved to another room, yet the indifferent response left us feeling the hotel hadn’t taken responsibility. Breakfast was disappointing for its price, with little variety and poor quality. The hotel is right beside a subway station, but the center is about ten stops away, so getting there takes a while. Our stay was mixed: an uneventful first night, then the insect and a badly handled complaint.

We found the rooms clean and equipped with a small fridge and safe, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The self-service breakfast had a good enough selection. We parked in the underground garage, which connects by elevator to reception and the upper-floor rooms; ask reception for a parking discount card. The U3 entrance is just 20 meters from the hotel door, a real convenience. Everything was as it should be, and I’d recommend staying here.

We had a good stay for three nights at the end of October 2025. The rooms were clean and spacious enough, and breakfast was good, apart from one day when some dishes weren’t very clean. There’s a Billa shop beside the hotel, with the subway right there and a tram stop nearby. Parking was available at a reasonable price, and the neighborhood was decent. For what we paid, it was great value.
