Hotel Königgut

The hotel itself is nice, but the rooms have neither phones nor coffee makers. When we asked for a coffee maker, the barman called it “Ayatria.” That was a really poor response.

We’ve been stopping here overnight on the way home from Italy for years, and there’s always something new or improved when we return. The rooms are tidy and freshly renovated, with a modern design that still has character. Breakfast has a great range and good quality, and the service is friendly. We’d recommend it.

The bar and restaurant staff were brilliant, welcoming, and made us feel comfortable. The property is well kept and seems geared toward corporate events and larger groups, with both older and newer rooms. But basic things you’d expect at a four-star place are missing, including a coffee machine, fridge, and ironing board. To iron, you have to use the laundry room in the basement, and staff aren’t there from Sunday noon onward. The reception team was the real letdown. Conversations felt like reading from a website, and they didn’t seem to try to understand what we were saying. Their manner could upset you over almost anything. Management should address that, because it can spoil the experience despite the good service elsewhere.

There’s plenty of parking, breakfast is included in the room price and has lots of options, and the balcony looks out over the Alps. The hotel has the basic facilities we needed, and the staff were friendly with excellent service. I’d be glad to stay again if I’m in Wals.
