Meridian Alex Beach Apartments

The heated pool was a treat and the kids made great use of it. We also appreciated the secure undercover parking and the short walk to the beach. The three bedroom apartment was larger than I expected, with fantastic views from both the front and rear balconies. The owners/managers were friendly and welcoming, and nothing was a problem. It had central reverse cycle heating/cooling, but no ceiling fans, which would have helped move the air around at night. Apart from that, it was a fantastic stay and we’d be back in a heartbeat.

The verandah was a lovely place to sit and enjoy ocean views, and the queen bed was super comfy. The pool and rooms were clean, and management was friendly and courteous. It was a perfect time of year for whale spotting, just what I’d hoped for. A wonderful location, handy to so much around Alex, Mooloolabah, and Maroochydore. We really enjoyed our stay.

We’d maybe book this apartment again for the view and because it’s close to my brother’s apartment. We’d give it 6/10. We stayed 27.12.25 - 06.01.26 in Room 601, the four bedroom Penthouse Appartment, with two bedrooms having Ensuites. The rooms were reasonable in size, but most wardrobes had little hanging space. The Meridian’s location is great. There’s a beach entrance across the road, though no flags there, and the Alexander Headlands Surf Club with flags is 50mt away. Sangs Thai Restaurant and Salt & Batter Fish & Chip Shop are both 20mt away and very good. The local bar is 30mt away, and the food is not bad. The view is fabulous. Road noise isn’t too bad despite the main road location. With the sliding doors open, the breaking surf drowns it out except for motorbikes; with them shut, road noise is minimal. The internet is good. The pool is heated and very clean, as is the fountain at the main entrance. The gardens, building entrance, and pool area are well maintained, and the reception and lift entrance are inviting. The rooftop has a fantastic view, but that’s where the good part ends. It’s totally overrated, and the sliding doors don’t lock, they just slide closed. There’s a small bar fridge and a kitchen setup, but that’s it. The two car parks included with the Penthouse are quite compact. There are four visitors’ parks just outside the underground car park entrance, and street parking is also available. A few street spaces are limited to two hours; the rest allow parking all day and night. We booked direct online, communication was good, and the managers were very pleasant. The bathrooms all need quite a bit of TLC. They’re very tired, shower doors don’t close properly, and the problems go on. When we stayed here four years ago, the main toilet was blocked. It’s still blocking four years later, though the manager came promptly and unblocked it. The washing machine leaks and doesn’t spin dry properly, so it needs replacing. The clothes dryer works a treat. The kitchen dishes needed cleaning before use. Food was still stuck to the dinner plates, bowls, and several knives, forks, and spoons; the glasses were dirty, the mugs stained, and the freezer and crisper needed cleaning. We scrubbed the mugs with salt to get rid of the stains and ran the glasses, mugs, and other dishes through the dishwasher. Its bottom rack is broken and needs replacing, and it’s hard to close the door without fiddling with the rack. The dishwasher is old enough to need replacing too. The lounge is the same one we had on our last stay four years ago, when it already needed replacing. It still needs to go, and there isn’t a comfortable chair in either the sitting room or dining room. The outdoor table and chairs are in good condition and have been replaced within the last four years. The apartment otherwise has reasonable sized rooms.

The location was a real plus, with the beach and some lovely places to eat an easy walk away. Our apartment was spacious, clean and tidy, and the big balcony had great ocean views.
