Langley Hall

The rooms have plenty of space, and there are lovely antiques and decorations everywhere. It feels like stepping back in time. The old equipment means there’s nowhere to make tea or coffee, though.

We had such a peaceful weekend here for our anniversary, and barely heard the main road. The rooms were gorgeous and comfortable, and the owners were attentive and lovely whenever we needed anything. Service was great from the time I booked. We took a few walks around the grounds and had a relaxing glass of Port in the living room after arriving. The historic home is beautiful, and I was in awe all weekend. I still think about it now. So glad we chose it, and we’ll be back!

The shower was hard for us to use, even though we’re small, because of where it sits in relation to the glass screen. I’m not sure how someone bigger could get under the water. We also spent most of the night itching from the duvet. Once we took it off, we were left cold with just the sheet, and the lumpy bed felt like it had seen better days. If we return, we’ll probably just come for afternoon tea. It’s a grand building, well kept for a place built in 1904, and the host really cares about its history. The rooms and shared areas were thoughtfully arranged, and there was enough parking on site. This was the stay I’d been looking forward to most, so those problems were disappointing.

The history tour was a highlight, and I loved how the tables were decorated. It was a lovely experience, though we didn’t have enough time to properly relax over high tea. The food could be better.
