Central Cosmo Apartments

The room was modest rather than fancy, but functional and comfortable enough for a short visit. Everything was clean and well maintained, and the location is handy for the CBD, with an easy walk across the river. I walked to the expo centre in about 25 minutes, which wasn’t the smartest choice in that heat. Parking is available and, if I remember correctly, costs around $20, reasonable for the area. My main concern was that there was no room safe. At this price, I’d expect one. There’s also no water dispenser, which would be useful in such hot weather. A solid no-frills place with a good location, though a few missing details hold it back.

There’s plenty within walking distance, including Wesley Hospital, a nearby ferry wharf, cafes, restaurants and Coles supermarket. I’d stay again. Our room was clean and comfortable during our four nights, though the place is looking tired and the bathrooms need updating. The shower over the bath feels outdated and could be dangerous for elderly guests.

We usually love staying at Cosmo and it’s generally our go-to in Brisbane. This visit, our apartment had a fishy, musty smell. We tried sprays and opened the windows, but eventually told reception. They investigated quickly and moved us to another room, which we really appreciated. We’ve noticed a similar problem in several places we’ve stayed: rooms can smell as though they were cleaned with dirty water, perhaps because mops aren’t cleaned or replaced. The smell is the first thing a guest notices, so it matters a lot. Even so, we recommend this place and will stay again. The service is top-notch, the location is great, and the rooms are generally very good.

The restaurant downstairs is great, and there are plenty of other cuisines around the neighbourhood too. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The location was just right, near the ferry terminal and train station, and the city was within a manageable walk. Our room was clean and comfortable, a little dated but perfectly usable. Every room has a balcony. Highly recommended.
