We spent 10 days at the Dockside apartments and found them quiet, spacious and comfortable, with lovely decor and a spectacular view. The price felt fair for the area and the size of the apartment. I’ve stayed in both luxury suites and budget places in Brisbane, and this was the nicest mid range apartment I’ve had. It's now on our list for the next Brisbane trip. The location made it easy to use public transport, and Ubers had no trouble picking us up or dropping us off. The pool was a good size, and the lifts were large, which helped with all our luggage. The washer and dryer were in very clean, good condition. Cleaners came twice during our stay, which was unexpected and helpful, and they did a wonderful job. Reception staff were also very helpful. After we left, they returned some rather expensive water bottles I’d forgotten. We were there with children who had surgery in Brisbane, and I couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay while we waited for the all clear to go home. The apartment was well maintained. The one small drawback was that the TV wasn’t a smart TV, so I had to rush out and buy a Google TV streaming device for Netflix and Disney. With the children unable to get out and do things each day, having TV mattered. If streaming is a need for you, bring your own device. I was surprised by some of the negative reviews, because this was such a nice stay for us.

We booked rooms 1202 and 1203 for New Years, for three adults and six children aged 8 to 16. Both apartments were tidy and spacious, with everything we needed to cook, and we could enjoy the sights and atmosphere below. We watched the fireworks from one of the barges in 1202, and had breakfast together at the table for six on the 1203 balcony. The internet in 1202 gave us some trouble. A sign warned that resetting the router would mean a $250 call out fee, which was a drag. Luckily, reception was great in the other room, so we could use our devices and TV there. Thanks to the team for having us, we really enjoyed our time in the apartments.

NOSTALGIA... I came here when I was young, and returning to the same atmosphere made my little heart happy. I’m glad to see updates and upgrades underway, though keep that in mind if you’re staying during this period. It’s a beautiful spot with a connection to Brisbane city.

The location is great, and that’s why I booked despite some rooms looking quite dated. For the price, it’s hard to beat. But the latest room I stayed in had a worrying amount of mould. On an earlier visit, staff asked if they could check my room after the previous guest complained about mould. It wasn’t too bad then, but it seems like it may be a building issue. The more I look around, the more I worry about getting crook. Some rooms are good and others aren’t, and you may have better luck with a two bedroom unit.

We spent a week in a two bedroom deluxe unit and had a great experience. It had everything we needed and felt like a home away from home. The unit had been recently refurbished, including new bathrooms, and the amenities were very good. The view over the Brisbane river is magnificent. They also clean the unit once a week during your stay. The location is ideal: close to the city but quiet, away from the main roads and right by the river. I’d definitely recommend giving it a try when visiting Brisbane.
