Hamilton Motor Inn

We quickly packed, returned the keys and left, and won’t be coming back. The room was meant to have a balcony, but there wasn’t one. Although clean-looking towels had been put out, the room itself hadn’t been cleaned: the carpets weren’t vacuumed, there was sticky residue, coffee and sugar granules on the counter, a hole in the headboard, and an unclean shower. We went to reception, but they had locked up and left before closing time. When we raised the problems, there was little remorse or effort to put things right. Horrible customer service.

The manager gave us a warm welcome and was very helpful with the information we asked for. The motel is across the road from the ferry terminal on a very busy main road, so some traffic noise is to be expected. We stayed in spacious room 15, an older-style motel room with river views. It had a small table, microwave and tea and coffee supplies. The shower pressure was excellent and the water nice and hot. There’s on-site parking, including some secure parking.

The lift was a really ugly first impression, with disgusting carpet. Surely it would be worth spending a little money to update it. The whole building is dated, and the room looked a bit tired, though it seemed clean. The bed was good and the sheets were crisp.

I’ll be back for sure. The beds were very comfortable, and though the place is dated, it was clean. Staff were extremely accommodating, friendly and supportive, and made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. The place is scheduled for a revamp, and I can’t wait to see what the new owners do. Best prices in Hamilton.
