We called at noon to say we’d arrive late, but when we got there at 7:45pm nobody was around. After calling reception a few times, we waited about 20 minutes for someone to let us in. The whole check-in felt disorganised. Inside, we found only half a toilet roll in each toilet and had to ask for more, along with a small cockroach in the shower, which wasn’t a great start. The apartment was outdated and needed quite a bit of improvement. It wasn’t flashy or luxurious, but you do get what you pay for. I wouldn’t bring my family back, though everyone has different expectations and you might want to see for yourself.

The bed was very comfortable and the shower was good, but the apartment was extremely disappointing. The floor was dirty enough that we had to wear shoes or wash our feet before bed. There was a shattered light globe by the bathroom vanity, the microwave was dirty and wouldn’t rotate, and the balcony was moldy and needed a good clean. The tap above the washing machine leaked, creating a slip hazard on the way to the toilet, so we put down a bath mat. We had to wash all the dishes before making a cuppa, and on Christmas morning the frying pan still had old fat in it. Half the lights didn’t work, so we ate almost in the dark. Check-in wasn’t very informative either. We have other appointments in Brisbane and have to stay at least three more days, but we’ll leave early and forfeit at least two days. I spoke to reception, but all I got was a shrug and that they’d talk to housekeeping. Not recommended.

We only booked because it was near the hospital, and if we hadn’t paid upfront, we would have left in disgust. The caretaker took over 30 minutes to open up for check-in, then the room we got was shockingly dirty. Dishes were stuck to the cupboard, there was old soap in the shower from the last tenants, and we had to wipe out the microwave before using it. The kitchen sink barely worked until I removed the water saver from the faucet, and the toilet seat was barely attached. Half the lights didn’t work, so we ate in near darkness. It looked like the place hadn’t been cleaned in years, just had the sheets changed. I’ve seen amenities blocks in the Northern Territory that were cleaner. Do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere.

The room was a bit tired and dated, but the price was pretty decent for the location. I was especially impressed that parking was included in the unit cost, which is quite rare in some places. The unit was very comfortable and I was happy with it. I’d highly recommend it, and it would be my first choice if I head back to Brisbane.

It’s such a disappointment because the rooms are spacious, the kitchen area is great, the complex is really quiet, and the exterior is well kept. But the rooms are old and tired, with broken furniture and worn carpet, and the cleanliness was extremely poor. There was soap left on the shower floor from the previous customer, and it was clear the shower glass hadn’t been cleaned. There were bodily fluids on the toilet roll and the sliding doors were covered in handprints.
