Maison de Chocolate

The house is reasonably nice and has off-street parking. Its kitchen has the usual appliances, including a fridge, oven, cooktop, coffee machine, dishwasher, microwave and toaster. There’s also a washing machine, which we didn't use, and a Hills Hoist in the backyard, but no dryer. During our visit, when the weather wasn't humid, the non-adjustable evaporative air conditioning kept the house cool in the daytime. It has to be switched fully on or off, though, and the windows need to be open for it to work properly. There’s no WiFi, and the TV isn't smart, so no streaming, casting or Netflix. The noise made it impossible for us to recommend the place. The main bedroom faces Williams Street, also known as the Barrier Highway, the main road from Adelaide to Broken Hill and beyond. To use the air conditioning, we had to leave the bedroom window open, and semi-trailers went past all night. With the window shut, the air conditioning wouldn't work very well. The other two bedrooms, and presumably a bathroom, were locked, so we couldn't comment on them. We thought the back bedrooms might be quieter, but the house next door had a rottweiler barking all night, and two yappy dogs behind the house barked at all hours too. The neighbor's car had a sticker in the rear window saying "Hated locally." It's a pity, because it's a nice house, the owners seemed nice, and we appreciated the off-street parking.
