The only part of our visit I'd recommend was the main bar, where the service was great and the woman behind the bar was lovely. After that, things went downhill. The staff in the lounge and dining area were inhospitable, and sometimes blunt enough to be rude. We ordered the beef burger with onion relish, bacon chunks and double cheese on a brioche bun. The char on the patty was good, and the cheese and relish were there, but the promised bacon chunks were missing, replaced by a few tiny pieces. The menu description had really made our mouths water. The decor is tired and needs updating, the couches were broken, and the chairs were hard and uncomfortable. I can't recommend this hotel. Three stars for the bar attendant's great service.

The decor is fantastic, and the rooms look amazing. Service was generally okay, and I'd recommend booking, even if it's just for the restaurant. The food was hit and miss for me, and it felt overpriced for the quality and portion sizes. The eggplant schnitzel was small, thinly cut and a bit too oily compared with the chicken schnitzel. The final order docket had mistakes too, with sides added that we hadn't ordered and other things we did order left off the bill.

We came to celebrate my great grandfather's life and stayed in the room where he died 100 years ago. The pub feels historical and original, with good food, lovely people and a chilled, relaxed atmosphere.

The food was tasty, but it arrived cool to cold. We were four adults and a dog, and the website blurbs had led us to expect a large alfresco dining area where dogs were welcome. What we found was tables and bench seats on the footpath. We also had to order our meals at the bar instead of in the restaurant area, which was closer.

It's a great pub, especially in the evening when they open the front windows. The meals are very expensive. Since it's heritage listed, they've kept the old paintings and the turn-of-the-century public phone booth.
