Cairns City Apartments

The apartment had plenty of space and was decorated in a Balinese style, with all the amenities we needed, including Netflix. Anna was a wonderful host, quick to respond and accommodating, even letting us check in early.

The location was great, and our rooms were clean and comfortable. But the pool area looked much more spacious in the photos. It's small, mostly shaded, and has hardly anywhere to sit, with just two loungers and one other chair. There were four of us on our annual girls trip, staying for four nights. On our first evening, Anna asked us at 8pm to turn the noise down after someone complained. We'd been having drinks and playing music in our outdoor seating area, and she suggested we move inside so nobody could hear us. It really put a dampener on the trip. We're hardly a rowdy group, and it was only 8pm. If you want to relax in the sun and enjoy your holiday, I'd look elsewhere.

Everything we needed was in the well-equipped unit, and the main strip with all the restaurants was just a stone's throw away. We loved our stay and would absolutely come back when we're in Cairns.

Service was good, the location was handy right outside Cairns Central Shopping Mall, and the pool was beautiful. The building and parking lot were securely locked so only residents could get in. We were even upgraded for free to a beautiful, spacious apartment, but the maintenance issues and broken fittings still made for a poor stay. The living and dining rooms were nice, as was the kitchen. The large balcony had plenty of space, though the bedroom balconies were small apart from the main bedroom. There was air conditioning and fans throughout, plus lots of books to read downstairs and upstairs. The upstairs main area was spacious too, with a large wardrobe stocked with quilts, blankets and pillows. The main bedroom was very large, with a small TV, walk-in robe, and an open ensuite with two sinks and a double shower. A lot of the place looked worn and needed maintenance, including the walls and floors. Two lights were broken, the beds and pillows weren't very comfortable, and the upstairs study chair was uncomfortable too. The TV wasn't smart. The downstairs main bathroom had no soap or lock. Another bathroom's lock, under the knob, took ages to find. The main bedroom's walls were in poor condition, and its shower was as bad as the other one. The stairs were extremely dangerous, with vertical gaps between the steps. I hope the other rooms aren't like that, especially since I saw a cat. Those stairs seem very dangerous for small pets. The shower took about ten minutes to get even slightly warm, despite all three of us trying it at different times on maximum hot with no cold water. And the shower head was tiny, like a 5x5 computer screen, so very little water landed on you. The bathroom did have plenty of rails for towels. We got shampoo, but no body wash, just cheap hand soap.
