Berkeley River Lodge

My wife, two other couples and I stayed there last year, and we all thought it was fabulous. Five star everything, just amazing up at the top end. We hope cyclone FINA doesn't cause any damage. Fingers crossed.

The optional helicopter trip is a must. Flying over that amazing landscape gives you a whole different view, and the pilot lands in incredible places you can't otherwise reach. We swam in waterholes and saw rock art that very few people have seen or ever will. The tours were well coordinated, fun and interesting, with guides who knew so much about the land's history, plants, wildlife and Aboriginal rock art. They also knew how to have fun with guests. Sunrises were stunning, and the sunsets were just as beautiful, whether we were out on a tour, landing on a mountain in the chopper, or back at the lodge viewpoint, always with good company, drinks and nibbles. The lodge puts you in one of the most remote parts of the world, surrounded by extraordinary scenery, then welcomes you back to lovely bungalow accommodation and a great common area for degustation and wine pairing meals, plus whatever other food or drink you need. It honestly can't get better. Everyone, from managers and housekeeping to the unbelievable chefs, was happy, friendly and accommodating. The chefs even mingled and chatted with guests. The meals were all beautiful, as good as any you'll find, and the other guests were like-minded travellers, so it was fun to mingle. Anyone with a sense of adventure and a love of the outdoors should stay at the Berkeley River Lodge. The landscape is unique and unmatched in Australia, maybe the world. The staff are the happiest, most helpful people you'll meet. Everyone involved is doing Australian tourism proud, and the trip is worth every cent.

Awesome, remote and isolated. If you want to get away from city life and soak up the Kimberley's beauty, I can't recommend BRL enough. The staff were fantastic, especially Rhett and Laura on their wonderful tours. Hope I can return one day.

The setting is spectacular, a very special part of the world, and the activities were amazing, from hiking to the sunset four-wheel drive. We spent a week at this wonderful lodge, and the service and food were excellent. Thanks for looking after us so well.
