Astra Falls Creek

After more than 25 years of skiing in Australia, we hadn't experienced service like Astra's. We already knew the restaurant, one of the best in Falls Creek, and the lounge bar by the fire, which has the best atmosphere in Falls creek. Staying here was brilliant. They've thought through what a ski holiday needs and tried to make it even better. The personal pickup and transfer to the hotel, welcome on arrival, and porter help with all our luggage were just the start. Inside, the staff were friendly and attentive, the rooms beautifully furnished and practical, and the ski storage was unmatched. The apres-ski lounge and restaurant were inviting, and there's a pool, spa, and dry and steam saunas. Even the last day after checkout is handled with the skier who wants to spend that day on the slopes in mind. That's unusual in the industry. This was easily our best experience at an Australian alpine hotel.

This was our second stay at Astra, and the staff were amazing again. The shuttle arrived promptly at the transfer station, and we were met outside with wristbands that worked as keys for everything, then shown to our locker. The locker room is spacious, and the ski lockers were great. The Deluxe Room is on the small side but still comfortable. The biggest downside was the paper-thin connecting door. We could hear just about every noise next door, and Astra should invest in better soundproofing at this price. The pool, sauna, and steam room were great and included with the stay. The location is about as central as it gets. Ski-in, ski-out is a bit of a stretch, but the Falls shuttle stops nearby. Breakfast was included and perfect, and dinner at the restaurant was great. The bar and fire are the best on the mountain. Highly recommended!

The free village shuttle made getting around very convenient, and it was great having secure, lockable storage for our gear. The spa and sauna were ideal after a day on the snow, and they're included in the cost. Astra feels welcoming and well cared for, with a team that knows how to run an alpine hotel. Service was professional and friendly, and they took care of everything. Hands down the best place to stay in Falls Creek. We'd definitely return.

This was our second stay, and we'll be back next year. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the room has always been clean and comfortable. From picking us up at our house to taking us to our room, the whole experience was wonderful. Getting to the slope is easy. See you again, Astra :)
