We paid $96 for the night and found it excellent value. We’re senior citizens, so our expectations may differ from younger people. I was a bit unsure about booking a room in a hotel (Pub), mainly because of possible noise, but ours was behind the main part of the hotel and well away from anything noisy. We had a quiet night. We arrived mid afternoon on a hot day, and the room was a comfortable 22-25 degrees. Everything looked relatively new and clean, the beds were cosy, and the mini fridge worked well. There were tea and coffee facilities, free Wi-Fi, and a $10 voucher for the Bar / Bistro. The bistro food was hot, freshly prepared and cooked, and quite yummy. There was something for most people on the menu, and I left full. Portions were good, the waiting staff were friendly and efficient with food delivery and clearing plates, and the tables were clean, not sticky. Well done. In our travels, we’ve paid a lot more for stays that didn’t come close to The Club Hotel Gladstone.

The kids have plenty of room to run around, and Sundays bring face painting and balloons. But honestly, I’m still thinking about the fried custard with rhubarb. Best dessert I’ve ever had. Please bring it back, or make it a regular menu item! 🥺🙏🏻

The room and restaurant food were fine, and the service was okay too. The night was noisy, though: some guys were racing cars, and our neighbours made a racket when they got back to their room at 1:30am.

I paid between $105-$119 for a triple room on my own in October 2025, depending on when I booked. For that price, the value is hard to beat in Gladstone. The three staff members I dealt with were outstanding, professional and so helpful. I stay in plenty of hotels and don’t usually get service like that at this price. Full marks to them, and probably to whoever hired and trained them. My room was very quiet, with little traffic or other noise, and the bed was really comfortable. It was clean and refurbished, though the building itself seems older, maybe from the 1970s. There was a parking space right outside, motel-style. Room 8 had wooden floors, an in-wall air conditioner, wardrobe, desk and chair, TV, spare twin 3-pin power outlet with two USB ports, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, crockery and cutlery, tea and coffee, iron and ironing board. Linen included a floor towel, hand towel, face washer and bath towel, plus shampoo, conditioner and soap. The blockout curtains were good too. The train station is a one-minute walk away. I ate in the sports bar rather than the bistro. The pub-style meals were generously sized and reasonably priced, with smaller senior meals available. The bar attendant knew the dishes and was happy to explain them and make suggestions.

The kids' play area is great, and the service and atmosphere were lovely. There were so many choices on the pub menu, with generous portions. Everything we tried was delicious, and the steaks were cooked just right. Can't wait to go back.
