The Queens Hotel Gladstone

The rooms were very clean, nicely decorated, and all the appliances worked. I felt safe and welcome there. The food was good too, with gluten-free options available. The restaurant and hotel service were amazing. The ladies serving us were professional, friendly and helpful. Thanks to Abigail and Rebeka for looking after my dad and me today. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.

We ate at the restaurant and were really impressed by the outstanding food. The table service was friendly and attentive without hovering. Our room was clean, comfortable and beautifully presented, and we had a fantastic stay at The Queen’s Gladstone Hotel. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back or recommend it.

The chips were good, and the staff were great, but the food was not. I ordered a 300g T-bone and there’s no way it was that size, unless half of it was fat. I asked for medium rare, but it came out hard. It seemed to have been cooked on an uneven hot plate, with one side charred and the other rare, just short of blue. The pepper sauce tasted like gravy with ground pepper sprinkled on top. I ate it because I’d been driving for 10 hours and just wanted food, and couldn’t be bothered sending it back. Go to Maccas or somewhere else.

The receptionist was fantastic, and the room had been totally refurbished with a new, extremely comfortable mattress. The air con worked well, but its vents wouldn’t stay up, so they blew straight onto the bed until we taped them in place. There was very little parking because renovations were underway. There also weren’t any chairs or an outdoor seating area for smoking. The shower had a big rain head and great pressure, until we realised that anything above a very low setting flooded the shower room because the drain couldn’t handle it. Luckily the shower floor was patterned, as it hid the dirt we found after the room flooded. We might consider trying again after the renovations are finished, but with so many hotels in the region, I highly doubt it.
