Copacabana Holiday Apartments

The apartment was spacious and well located, but the cleanliness was very disappointing and below basic expectations. It looked like the sheets had been changed, the carpets vacuumed and maybe the benches wiped, with little attention to a proper clean. There were what looked like very old roast chicken bones on the upper balcony, as if it rarely gets cleaned. The door and window tracks were filthy, the carpet was stained, there were brown splatters on the blinds, and mould and rust were visible. There was mould in the aircon too. It affected our comfort and didn't match the advertised standard.

I booked with pay at the apartment and was asked to cancel because the apartment was damaged. Then the next day I saw it listed again, this time as pay now, not at the property. If you offer no prepayment, that's what should be available. Maybe I'm wrong, and I could call to check, but I feel they'd just lie and say I was wrong. It seems unlikely that a room that wasn't fit to stay in was fixed by the next day. And if it was fixed so quickly, why didn't they contact me to see if I wanted to book again? Mmmm, unethical practice. Maybe cancelling another booking with them sent them into a panic. Who knows. But it was my choice to book with no prepayment and free cancellation until a certain date.

No lift, but lovely staff and a great location. It's an older style apartment, but clean, neat and tidy, and it does the job.

The spot is just minutes from the centre of Surfer's, and Q1 is right across the road. The clever use of trees makes it feel like a little oasis among all the tall buildings. It has a simple, welcoming, basic feel, with that quaint summer apartment atmosphere from older days. It may not look top level at first, but the place grows on you. 4.5 ⭐ overall.
