Mermaid Beach Apartment

We had a lovely room and enjoyed our stay. On check-in we were given a free upgrade to the family room, and the lovely staff welcomed us with complimentary chocolates for our sons. There’s a great Cafe downstairs with amazing coffee and friendly smiles. The beach is about a 3 minute walk, shops are 2 minutes away, and free parking was available behind the motel.

Free parking on site was handy, and nearby shops and attractions were easy to reach from this excellent location. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and the stay was great value. We had a pleasant visit and would happily come back.

Roadworks for the new tram are happening outside, though they won't last forever and aren't the motel's fault. Inside, the room was clean and modern, the facilities were great, and there’s a lovely café downstairs. Tom was very helpful and the staff were friendly. This place is a real gem in a great location.

The location near the beach was good, but the stay had a lot of problems. The newly made bed had sand on it, and there was sand on the floor too. Some rooms had very unreliable Wi-Fi, and staff couldn't fix it. Thin walls and doors meant I could hear guests returning late or leaving early. Late night road construction was also very noisy. I noticed scum, or possibly black mould, in the air conditioner and asked when it had last been cleaned. A staff member called another and said I could redacted the hotel, then the hotel would have to redacted the aircon cleaner. What should have been a simple cleaning question turned into a really stressful conversation. At least I got a sense of what they were thinking about me.
