Travelodge Hotel Hobart

The bed was comfortable, but I spotted a few hairs when getting in on the first night. I mentioned some of the issues to reception, but they didn't seem to think it was a big deal, so I didn't bother raising anything else. I expected to just hear "oh, so sorry". I won't be back. The room was small and dim, and the bathroom was cramped, needed extra cleaning, and was hard to move around in. Housekeeping came in while we were out without permission, I could tell because the blinds we'd closed that morning were open and they'd left fresh hand towels. When the front desk lady asked if we wanted the room done, I said no, I would have asked if I did. You also have to request plates and bowls from reception because they're kept there. The car park is extremely small and costs extra each night, which is silly. Given what we paid for the room, parking should be free. Breakfast wasn't worth the money either: the bacon looked like it had been sitting out for a while, the scrambled eggs had no flavour, and they were the only eggs on offer, no poached or fried eggs or even pancakes. Waste of money.

The bathroom was mostly fine, although the shower felt a little small because of the glass enclosure. The room was a decent size and comfortable, and check-in was quick and easy. Travelodge Hobart is handy for getting around on foot, with Brooke Street Pier, common tour meeting points and Salamanca Market all within walking distance. The SkyBus stops along this route as well, making airport transfers easy. A practical, well-located stay for exploring Hobart or joining day tours.

Christine at reception and her manager, a lovely gentleman from Sri Lanka, made me feel like I was coming home to family. That warm welcome gave my time in Tasmania a memorable start. Hobart may have more prestigious hotels, but this one has two of the best staff members. Thank you both 💕.

The breakfast had a good range of familiar options, and the coffee machine made a nice cup. Staff were polite and helpful throughout, and Raph at the front desk kindly let us check in early when we arrived at 1:30pm. We stayed Friday to Monday in a level 2 corner room, and it was very clean. The eClub Exclusive - City Getaways package included breakfast each day, a bottle of wine on arrival, and a noon checkout. The bathroom was the main annoyance. It was tiny, and the shower sent water across the floor, so it was slippery and the bath mat got soaked after every use. I could also hear the pedestrian crossing signals outside all night, though it didn't bother me too much. The location worked well for us, with food and drink in Battery Point a short walk away and the Shamrock Hotel just up the street for meals. It's about a $30 Uber ride from the airport, and Europcar is nearby. We hired a car for day trips and avoided paying for parking. A solid stay for the location and value, though the bathroom could be improved.
