BEST WESTERN Foreshore Motel

Some kids from the bistro kept banging on our door and running off behind the cars while we were trying to rest. We called hotel staff, and they told the kids off. A fence around the accommodation might help, since the area feels too open to crime and naughty kids. We stayed one night. It's close to the airport, check-in and checkout were easy with the key drop box, and the room was affordable, clean, and had all the amenities.

The bistro was a mistake. The seafood platter had no fresh seafood, and almost everything was battered or crumbed. The garlic prawns were about two tiny prawns swimming in garlic sauce, with a few small overcooked scallops, greasy fish, and strange minced fish shaped and crumbed to look like calamari. Yuk. The beer battered flathead was greasy with thick, stodgy batter, and one piece definitely wasn't flathead. The chips were undercooked and the salad very average. We'd never eat there again and can't recommend it. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and well appointed, with a kettle, toaster, microwave, and spacious modern bathroom. Good value and well located near Hobart and the airport, with a nice beach at Tiger Head Bay.

The location felt kind of weird, and we were shocked when we first saw the place. Calling it a hotel? Hell nah, it's a motel. The room was nice, the bathroom was good, and the TV came with free Netflix, which was awesome. When I walked in there was a strong smell of random chemicals, though it went away after a while.

The staff are generally friendly. Liam was really friendly when I ordered my meal over the phone for pickup today, but at collection they wouldn't take the member discount because I hadn't mentioned it when ordering. It hadn't even been rung up yet, so how does that make sense? The food is way overpriced for a normal cheap pub meal. $44 for pizza and schnitzel.
