Longreach Tourist Park

This outback caravan park has all the modern conveniences you'd expect in a city park. The sites are large, with power and water, though compacted gravel is the base on most of them since grass is precious in western Queensland. There's a pool, camp kitchen and clean modern amenities. Well worth a stay.

We were told our friend couldn't put his tent on our site and had to get one of his own, even though we saw plenty of other people with swags for their kids on their sites. That seemed a bit ridiculous. The park was quite clean, with good-sized caravan sites, a fantastic pool and three amenities blocks. The wooden amenities at the back were clean, modern and nice, but the block by the pool was dirty, with daddy long legs and spiderwebs everywhere.

The staff were friendly and we enjoyed our three-night stay. It's a great location for seeing what Longreach has to offer, and the ensuite caravan sites were clean, though a bit overpriced. The park is huge but there's no shade for the sites. The pool was great for cooling off.

We've always stayed here in our caravan, but this time we had a cabin and came away a bit disappointed. I know units age, but it could use some maintenance. The bottom of the shower screen was smashed, one of the three bathroom bulbs was out, and we couldn't use the oven because its door wouldn't close. I brushed down all the cobwebs and put some of the curtain back on its hooks. We also had to wrestle with the front screen door to lock it. Both that and the main door could use new rollers.
