Jumbuck Motel

Nobody was there, everything happened by text, and the parking area had barely any lighting. Our sliding glass door was standing open when we arrived. The chair was broken, the bench was thin plywood, and the door handles sat about a third of the way down from the top. The remodel felt shabby and still has a long way to go.

The beds were comfortable with crisp linen, and the bathroom was large with a huge showerhead. The renovated room had no wardrobe or drawers, though, and no bathmat. There was no safe, vending machine, local eatery information or area map. Shops and places to buy milk weren't nearby. Renovations were going on but weren't too noisy. Flies everywhere, and no one at reception at Albert Park motel. My room also wasn't serviced at all that week: no fresh towels, made beds, rubbish pickup or vacuuming. Not what I expected.

The room was neat and clean, the bed really comfortable, and we could bring our dog into the room, which was the best part. When we went to leave in the morning, the battery was flat. I called the number we'd been given the night before and spoke with Kaitlyn, who arranged someone to jump-start the car. I was so grateful, and then I could take it to get a new battery. We'd definitely stay again.

It's hard to find places that accept cats, so I appreciated that this one was pet friendly for them. The room was clean and comfortable, though it could use a little work. The area was quiet, and I'd stay again when travelling to Longreach.
