Those outdoor baths were such a relaxing way to finish the night, definitely a highlight. We also loved the design of our slab hut. Getting checked in early after the long drive made us feel welcome straight away.

We were driving from Sydney to Darwin when flooded roads left us needing somewhere to stay right away. I explained our unusual situation to Wendy, and she was so compassionate and understanding, and really worked to get us sorted. What a brilliant person. Thank you.

The staff were amazing, and we’d definitely come back. We had a wonderful rest in the Stables on our long trip home, with a really comfortable bed and a well-appointed room. The only small drawback was trying to use the artesian baths, since there are just two shared between all 19 rooms in the stables and slab huts. Still, it was a very small issue.

After two days of driving, the early check-in was much appreciated. Flooding meant we couldn’t get to Mount Isa, so locals advised us to stay in Longreach until the roads reopened. Saltbush made us feel very welcome and was lovely and accommodating. Our Slab Hut was gorgeous and comfortable, and the location was beautiful. We’d happily stay here again.

Wendy and Ron made everything feel easy and relaxing, always helping with a smile. We really appreciated the rides to and from the train station and into town. It’s the best service we’ve had in a long time. Thanks from Viv and Celeste, Brisbane. We’d gladly recommend Salt Bush Retreat and hope to visit again.
