City Gates Motel

Jenelle and Gary made my stay feel like a luxury holiday in Paris. Gary’s lovely expression could make me as happy as a baby tasting ice cream, and Jenelle was like a guardian angel. Her delicious home-cooked meals and the way she looked after my wellbeing meant a lot. She even made me feel part of the family by having dinner together. I wish them so much happiness and prosperity. I’ll come back with my son, Brendan. Love you to the sky and moon. I miss you so much. Please take good care, and give my regards to Shane too.

Janelle, thank you for being there for me when I was new to Mackay. You showed me around and gave me so much care, guidance, generosity and kindness. I felt like I had found a home and a family, with you as my “Mackay mum.” Staying at City Gate Motel through Airbnb was far nicer than any hotel or motel in Mackay could have been, and I loved spending time with you and your family. You took me grocery shopping, helped with my three heavy suitcases, helped me find accommodation, came with me to house inspections and helped me look for a car. I'll always be grateful. Your personal, friendly service made me feel at home, and the room was just right. It had a compact kitchen with everything I needed, including coffee, tea, a kettle, mini fridge, microwave, toaster and cutlery. The bed was comfortable and I slept like a baby. The location is great, close to the uni and on the main road. Woollies is a five-minute walk, Subway is on the corner, and Coles Express is nearby. There’s also a lovely back terrace to relax and have a beer. Thank you for making my stay so comfortable and memorable. If you’re coming to Mackay and want somewhere homely, I’d absolutely recommend CITY GATE MOTEL.

The room was spacious, and the bed was really comfortable and clean. One of the nicest motels I've stayed at in a while, definitely worth a night. :))

When I stayed there in July, 2006, the bathroom was impressive. The 34cm was perched up high, though, and there was no power point or bedside lamp. I should've brought my extension lead.
