Galaxy Mackay Motor Inn

I’ve been back a few times now. The rooms are clean, the staff are great, and the location works well. I’ve recommended galaxy motor inn to other people and still do.

We never made it to the property, so I can’t comment on the stay itself. The listing said after-hours check-in was available if you called ahead, and I’d seen several reviews saying people had managed it, even in the middle of the night. When I called, the woman was rude. I asked about arriving around 11, and she said it was too late, especially on a Sunday. I offered to pay and have a key left out, since I’d seen that done before, but she scoffed and said no. I don’t understand turning away business over what seems like a small effort. I know at least 40 people coming through next week, and I’ll recommend they stay anywhere else. They clearly don’t want the business.

The rooms are basic but pleasant enough. The highway noise is extremely loud, with no soundproofing, and other guests had a full-on domestic dispute in the car park that management did nothing about. It was a really unpleasant stay, and I definitely wouldn’t return.

We stayed in the family room, which was clean, tidy, comfortable, and roomy, with a good-sized fridge. It’s in a great spot on the highway and worked really well for an overnight stop. Highly recommend, especially for the price.
