The room was new and clean, but the view wasn’t what I’d been told it would be, and that was the only reason I’d give it three stars. I paid $327 per night and didn’t feel comfortable. The room itself was nice, but I had to put up with train noise. I’m not originally from Austria, though I’ve lived here for 9 years and stayed in many hotels around Melbourne, especially in the Melbourne CBD. I’ve never had service this confusing or inconvenient. The staff were cold and unenthusiastic, and check-in on a public holiday was complicated. I arrived an hour before the 2 PM check-in time and was told the room wasn’t ready, which I understand is standard, so I went to get food. Usually you can leave your bags or come back to the counter for a key card. Here, I had to get the card from a safe, but they didn’t send the code by email or phone. Calling led to an automated message saying nobody was available. I understand it was a public holiday, but if they choose to operate, someone should be available to help. Some guests may not know how to get the card from the safe, and getting the code takes a long time. If they want to save money, they shouldn’t operate on public holidays. You can read my review here. I won’t return or recommend this hotel.

A clean, nice place with a central spot near shops, cafes, and pubs. There’s a nice atmosphere around it, and lots of dogs to enjoy in the azalea if you’re a dog lover.

The apartment was very clean, and the bedrooms were really comfortable. It’s also well placed for all the amenities. I’d recommend it to friends and family travelling to Melbourne, and I’ll definitely stay again.

On two separate visits to Brighton, I was very happy with the studio apartments. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I asked for different, lower pillows and they brought them straight away. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the housekeeping team were approachable and happy to answer questions. Luckily the trains didn’t disturb my sleep. I’m happy to recommend the place.

We loved the room: it was clean and comfortable, and the layout worked well. The smart TV in the lounge was a real bonus since we could log into our own streaming services. We’ve stayed at a few hotels and never had that before. My partner and I had a wonderful time, with lovely staff and clear check-in instructions for our arrival outside reception hours. Shops are close and the beach is an easy walk. I’m a light sleeper, so I was anxious after reading about train noise, but it wasn’t much of an issue for us. Maybe our room was positioned differently. A couple of small things: we couldn’t find a bowl in the cupboards, though we also didn’t ask reception for one and probably should have. The bed was two twin beds pushed together rather than one solid king, which was a bit uncomfortable. We didn’t ask reception if that could be changed. We look forward to coming back.
