Forest Edge Cottage at Merrow Cottages

The bed was comfortable, and the property is beautiful with lovely surroundings. Still, we won’t be returning. We booked the deluxe spa suite for the last part of our honeymoon after reading so many positive reviews, and paying a premium price left us expecting much more than ordinary motel facilities. The room smelled of smoke. When we tried to light the open fire, the wet wood wouldn’t catch properly and smoke filled the room because the damper wouldn’t stay open. The bathrobes and towels didn’t smell clean, there were no organic bathroom products as advertised, and although there were candle holders, there weren’t any candles, just two dead matches. The kettle didn’t work, the fridge wasn’t cold enough for champagne, and there wasn’t even a bin. It seems things have gone downhill since the owners went overseas, put the property on the market and left it with agents. The special touches that made it an experience seem to be gone. It’s a real shame.

The gardens were gorgeous, and we heard lots of kookaburras and owls at night. We loved our romantic getaway here, especially the comfy bed and the amazing in-room spa. Highly recommend for a couple’s escape. 💑

We had such a memorable time here, tucked away in a beautiful rainforest setting. The fireplace and spa set a lovely mood, and the bottle of port was a beautiful touch to get things started. You can tell the lovely couple who own the place have put a lot of thought into making guests’ stays special. Thanks so much, we loved your little slice of heaven and can’t wait to come back.

Bacon and eggs with fresh bread for breakfast was a treat, and I loved the decor, especially all the quirky pictures. Maj and Daniel, the owners, were friendly and helpful. I had a wonderfully romantic night in the Forest Edge cottage, with its lovely furnishings, open fire, candlelit spa and gorgeous four-poster bed tucked away in dandenongs. Would recommend it very highly.
