ReadySet Apartments at Southbank Condos

We stayed at apartment #105 ReadySet Apartments at Southbank Condos on December 17. The main bathroom reeked because the broken, dismantled toilet had been left in pieces inside. The dishwasher also didn’t work: it was unplugged, and when I plugged it in the fuse tripped, so it was clearly broken and unrepaired. They said they hadn’t known, despite it already being unplugged. They did tell us the day before arrival that one toilet was out of order. I repeatedly asked firmly for another apartment. They said they’d offered one, but when I asked several times for evidence of when that offer was made, they couldn’t provide any. Like other guests reporting problems in November, we were told the apartment was functional when it wasn’t. I requested a refund before check-in so I could rebook somewhere suitable, but they refused. When I tried to make a formal complaint, they directed me to booking.com because that’s where I booked. They took no responsibility. I also kept contacting them through the WhatsApp number they had first used, where we’d already exchanged several messages. They pretended to send an auto-reply that was clearly made up on the spot, apparently to get rid of me. When I said their behaviour was unacceptable, they started responding again. Do not stay here or anywhere managed by this company.

We’d driven five hours for my wife’s operation at Austin hospital, but after one night we had to leave. We’d prepaid four nights and a $295 bond, which still hadn’t come back a week later. The whole place was filthy: stained, smelly couch and rugs, a disgusting carpet, rubbish and grime, and holes and marks all over the walls. The balcony looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months or more, and the AC unit was full of dust and mold. The shower mixer didn’t work and nearly scalded my child; huge gaps around the bath let water run behind it to who knows where. I wish I’d checked reviews first. We stayed in room 111 on 13 / 10 / 25. We tried contacting the front desk, but they said they had nothing to do with the room, the cleaners, or the booking agency. My wife wouldn’t stay there another night while she was due to have surgery in the following days, so thank goodness we found a hotel the next day. This place is a scam. Do not go here.

The apartment was dirty, with stained carpets, dust, and unclean cutlery. It looks like they aren’t putting money into upkeep. Without telling me or discussing a price, they took $110 from my account, claiming a cot was broken, but gave no evidence. My child slept in it just fine the whole time we were there. If you end up staying, take photos and videos of everything as soon as you arrive and unpack, so you have a record.

I paid almost $400 for one night in room 111, and the place was appalling. Dust everywhere, bathroom mould you could smell as soon as you opened the door, a smelly shower mat, dirty cutlery and utensils, and even a filthy dish rack. No coffee, seriously? The windows didn’t look like they’d ever been cleaned. Getting around the location was awkward and difficult. Some owners care about guests, some don’t. This so-called accommodation needs to lift its game. I couldn’t recommend it.
