We only needed a very brief overnight stay, so I didn’t mention the problems to reception until we left. That’s when they told us the room was due for refurbishment. Hopefully that will address the issues and bring it up to date, because it’s overdue. The room was otherwise good enough, but had no USB charging ports. The shower clearly leaked regularly: much of the carpet was ruined, rusty nails holding it down were exposed at the bathroom doorway and could be stepped on, and the bathroom smelled of mold. We had to put towels on the floor to stop water spreading when showering. I’m not sure how the room could be used in that condition. It was convenient, and apparently the room was about to be refurbished, which should be good for the next guest.

The staff at the front were kind and amazing, and the parking felt secure and spacious. I had a nice night out, then slept well into the afternoon in a room that stayed at the perfect temperature, with the heater and cooler working properly. The room was large and cosy, with a great minibar selection, a super comfortable bed and a gorgeous balcony view. The location is a little way from the city, in a lovely quiet area where I could have an undisturbed break. A really enjoyable stay.

We’ll come back. The location worked well for us, and being set back from the main street kept road noise away. Our room was roomy, comfortable and quiet. We only spoke with staff a little, but they were courteous and friendly when we did.

I was there for five nights in early September. The service was outstanding, and the location made it easy to get to things to do and places to eat, while still being a little outside the city. It was good value, and I’d consider staying again once the refurbishment is finished. There are still loose ends to sort out, though. The hotel has plenty of potential, and I think it can do well when the refurbishment program is complete and those remaining issues are addressed.
