It was a clean, quiet, comfortable place with everything we needed for a short stay. Shops, cafes, and walks were conveniently nearby, and Blue Lake and Valley Lakes were a short distance away. I’ve visited Mt Gambier many times over a long time, and it’s still a great place to visit. We really enjoyed our time here and would love to return more often than we’ve managed in recent years.

Check-in was seamless, and the location made everything convenient. Aloha Central Premium Studios was great value for the quality. The studio had everything we needed and was modern, clean, and extremely comfortable. A real gem. I’d definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The mould and mildew smell was awful from the moment we opened the room. We initially wondered if the rain on arrival was the cause, but opening the bathroom windows, running the heaters, and even brewing coffee didn’t get rid of it. The dampness affected our breathing, and all of us developed something like hay fever. There was mildew in the pillows and bed linen, we slept terribly, and woke with puffy eyes and runny noses. Showering made the smell worse, and the water seemed stagnant in the pipes too. The bathroom was filthy and poorly cleaned. There was a thick layer of dust on the toilet roll holder, even though the cleaner had opened it to fill it with toilet paper. Short black hairs were in the shower. They weren’t ours: we have long blonde hair and my husband is bald. The property’s website photos absolutely did not match what we found, and we felt catfished. The location was awful, down an alley beside a tyre business. The front studios face a busy Main Street, so you can’t open the blinds during the day or everyone can see in, and the room windows didn’t open except for those in the bathroom. The place advertised a 5 star rating and was said to be recently built, but the fixtures and fittings looked cheap and poor quality. Even the badly built shower cubicle sloped, so water ran down it, and the floor was extremely slippery. The room was large and spacious but had no style or personality. The main bed had a headboard; the other two single beds were pushed against the wall, with a tiny light that barely gave enough light to read. Two TVs were mounted close together, making it impossible to watch them at the same time because of the noise. The main TV in the “bedroom” was off-centre rather than opposite the main bed, so it was awkward to watch from bed. There was no artwork to warm up the room. It felt like a long garage, with walls on either side and windows at the far end overlooking the Main Street, where the blinds had to stay closed. The one thoughtful touch was a large mounted print showing a photo of the owner, shops, restaurants, attractions, and their distances, which was a great addition for visitors. A small uncomfortable lounge and a little glass round table with uncomfortable chairs added to the sparse furnishings. Before booking, we needed to check a few things because we were spending a lot over several days and rooms, but owner Nicole never answered our calls, texts, or emails, so we had to keep calling. When we eventually spoke, her tone on the phone came across as arrogant, which I didn’t appreciate. We left early even though we’d paid for three nights. We couldn’t stand the smell or the location and just wanted to get home. I’d never recommend this property, even though it’s on the Main Street of mount gambier. There are many other places available, and this one felt like sleeping in someone’s converted garage with mould and mildew.

The gas fireplace made our short stay especially enjoyable, and the laundry facilities were in the car park. This was a very clean, modern studio with a kitchenette, large bathroom, and comfortable bed. It’s centrally located in Mount Gambier, near pubs, cafes, and supermarkets. A very comfortable stay.

An easy self check-in and a great pub for dinner just around the corner made this a handy stop on our Melbourne to Adelaide road trip. The room was huge, modern, super clean, with a comfy bed and great shower. Great value for money and we highly recommend Aloha for accommodation in Mount Gambier.
