We had to cancel accommodation with the Laneway Mudgee unexpectedly because of a family emergency, which was difficult for us. I understand that the Laneway can refuse a deposit refund under its Terms and Conditions, but the poor customer service and communication from management showed little empathy and no willingness to be flexible or negotiate in good faith. My travel partners and I called several times over multiple days trying to sort it out. Front desk staff kept referring us to management, but nobody ever called me back when I asked. There was no effort to understand our situation. Instead, we got blunt, unhelpful advice that a refund was impossible and that they wouldn’t discuss credit for the deposit. The whole thing was distressing and disappointing, and frankly a waste of everyone’s time.

The little bowl of snacks was such a thoughtful welcome. The Laneway feels warm, clean and cozy, and it’s surprisingly peaceful despite being only a short stroll from the town centre. We’d happily stay again when we’re in the area.

I’ve been back a few times because it’s in a quiet spot and the rooms are clean and roomy. There’s a handy outdoor area with a bbq, plus a fully equipped kitchen, dishwasher, washer and dryer. They also have a nice range of teas and coffees. The bed setup wasn’t what I’d requested this time, though it was easy enough to push the small beds together.

Parking right outside the door and really good blockout curtains made work trips easier. I’m staying here now and have already booked again for next week. It’s so hard being away from home, but the place is quiet, very clean and comfortable, with a well equipped kitchen, milk in the fridge and complimentary snacks. Really can’t fault it.

The good bits were the quiet, being just a five minute drive from town, the welcome chips, chocolates and coffee pods, and the lady I spoke to on the phone when booking. The accommodation is in the industrial part of town, which didn’t bother me, but the grounds felt neglected and there were old mattresses dumped at the end of the lane. Inside, it wasn’t clean and showed signs of needing work. It also needs a bed head. It’s a shame, because with a little effort it could be a great family base.
