Gold Mine Guesthouse

We were only passing through and didn't stay in the accommodation, but we visited the Gold Mine Museum and really liked it. The walk through the cave-like area created a good dramatic feel, and there's a lot of history here. Entry was inexpensive and worth the price. I'd recommend stopping in for a visit.

With so few places to choose from in Nundle, I booked in a hurry and paid $145 for a room. It seemed expensive, but I figured that might be the going rate. When a friend wanted to join us, I asked about an extra bed. They said none were available, but offered to put a mattress on the floor. I felt embarrassed asking my friend to sleep on that, and only later learned it cost another $55. Once there, I found my other friends had separate rooms with spare beds and had paid much less than my $200 total. One friend had a room to himself with three single beds for just $85. Warren seemed helpful at first, but I came away feeling he'd taken advantage of the situation. The For Sale sign out front says plenty. Better off booking a room at the pub.

The cafe breakfast was great, and the mine museum is worth a look. Warren was friendly, responsive and very helpful. My room was spotless, everything worked, and it had a window seat, a great shower and was nice and warm at night.
