Orford Blue Waters

We waited an hour for our meals, and the plates from our entrees hadn't even been cleared. Most of the other tables had been served and were nearly finished. When the food finally came, the chips were cold, the wings dry, the parmigianas soggy, and the burger patties tasted store bought. The popcorn chicken salad was advertised as crispy chicken, but it wasn't crispy either. No one apologised for the delay or inconvenience. We'd called an hour ahead to book for our large group, out of common decency. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty. We got drinks and ordered, then a few small groups came in, but there weren't many. I won't return or recommend the place.

The room was spacious and the shower was great, and the location is ideal for Orford, close to everything and lovely walks. It was clean and did the job. The Queen Budget room would suit a short stopover, or someone planning to get drunk at the pub and crash. I felt uneasy when patrons walked past, so I checked from outside whether people could see in through the windows with the lights on. They couldn't, but it still felt weird. I also couldn't sleep during the day when jet-lagged. I'd definitely stay again, but next time I'd book a deluxe room with a balcony, or somewhere further from the pub and restaurant.

The room was comfortable and the staff were kind. There wasn't a microwave to heat our own food, but the staff were happy to warm it in the kitchen microwave, and the receptionist was very helpful. Given the room and location in a distant regional coastal area, it seemed a little pricey.

Dinner at the onsite restaurant was absolutely delicious, just what we needed after a long day of travelling. I honestly hadn't expected much from Orford Blue Waters Hotel, but it exceeded my expectations. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. Best of all, it was so clean, and the bathroom was great. Lovely location too. I'd definitely stay again.
