Hamptons Inn

The breakfast was great, and it's only a five-minute walk to Fremantle markets and the cafe strip. I stayed for an extended time and the hospitality stayed consistently good throughout. Neil is an excellent host. Highly recommend.

The continental breakfast was included and plentiful, so it felt like great value. I loved the Mouat room, with its gorgeous look, very comfortable bed, and fantastic spa bath. Such a lovely b&b. I wish I'd found it when I first arrived in Freo. I'd definitely stay again. Thanks, Neil.

I never got to use the accommodation, and I'll never stay at or recommend Hampton Inn. If I could give zero stars, I would. They can point to their policies, but I feel they treated us terribly. I'd booked through AGODA as part of a surprise birthday celebration for my partner, along with dinner and a sunset boat cruise. Work and COVID changed our rosters, so we couldn't make the booking. The policy didn't allow changes or cancellations, but I contacted Neil, the owner, through AGODA. He replied directly, said he understood, and offered to let us rebook by March 2021 if I contacted him when we were ready. Once our rosters settled, I emailed Neil numerous times to arrange a new date and got no reply. AGODA also struggled to get an answer. Three weeks later, Neil told them he no longer wanted to honour the agreement to rebook us.

I stand by my first review: this automated setup didn't work for me, and people should know before booking. The system failed, and despite providing no service, the owner kept the full payment. There were no staff on site, which was a serious problem when we couldn't get in. I spent the night trying to contact someone, and the owner wasn't apologetic. In response to the owner's reply, my first point is accurate, and their account didn't offer details that changed it. Their version of events was false and made a bad situation worse. A friend had bought the booking as a birthday gift and gave it to me that afternoon, well before 7 p.m. I don't know when it was purchased. We planned to arrive around 8 p.m., after my birthday party began. Instead, we got there at about 1:30 a.m. We called and left messages several times, then waited on the deck for help. Around 3:30 a.m., we started pounding on the door. After about another hour of calling, we gave up and tried to sleep roughly, but couldn't. We came back and spoke with a guest smoking on the deck, apologized for waking them, and they said it was fine. You, I assume, showed up sometime later, explained it was fully automated, and said we could stay for only a few hours. Since the tram had just started running, we decided to take it home instead. Publicly suggesting I was on drugs felt slanderous. I was obviously exhausted, but I don't know why you assumed drugs because you thought I wasn't talking enough. I don't use drugs, and I'd gladly provide a urine sample if you need proof. My relationships are private. My friend kindly gave me this gift, and your system failure meant I couldn't use it. I tried to get them a refund because I felt bad. It seems like you're using my empathy to shame me. Nobody abused my friend's generosity except you, and nobody showed no remorse except you. Empathy is a strength you should try to develop. Using it against me in public is pathetic and shows weakness. It makes me wonder whether your lack of empathy is why you're content to run a soulless automated inn.
