That last night on level 9 was amazing, with a stunning lake view. I’d definitely make time for sunset by the lake, it was absolutely beautiful. The hotel is around a 20-minute walk from town, though there’s a nearby bus and rides within the city zone are free. A supermarket is close too. There aren’t many restaurants right nearby, but getting into town is easy. Before that, I spent four nights on level two. The room was quiet and comfortable, but the only view was a concrete building. The staff kindly kept my luggage while I went on tour, then I came back for one more night.

The room service was a letdown too. An ice cream dessert advertised with a brioche bun arrived as three plain scoops for $18. I ordered iced chocolate and got iced coffee instead, then waited 30 minutes for the correction, with no apology. Parking made the stay frustrating from the start. We were directed to nearby car parks: Plain Street Carpark was $30 and limited to one day, so we had to move the car during our stay. Then we parked across the road at the Grand Hotel Group Car Park for $40 a day. Paying premium hotel rates and having to shuffle the car around was a pain. We were also handed a pamphlet on arrival saying “charge back accepted” for parking. No reimbursement was offered, only the option to put the cost on the card on file, which defeats the point. Clearer, more honest information beforehand would have helped. If we’d known, we’d have chosen somewhere else. The hotel itself is quite nice, but the staff seemed disengaged and unfriendly, and the whole experience fell well short of expectations. At this price, guests shouldn’t have to sort out parking or accept sub-par service. We wouldn’t recommend it, there are plenty of places with a much smoother experience.

We could see fireworks and part of the river from the side of our room. The bed was comfy, and the compact room and bathroom were well designed with everything needed for a short stay. It’s a budget hotel, recently renovated in bright, cheerful, clean colours. Parking was $40 for 24 hours, which felt expensive, though that seems standard for many hotels around here.

The breakfast buffet was good value at $35 per person, with lots of options, good coffee machines and plant-based milk. A toaster for pastries would make it even better 😅. Staff were friendly and the service was great. Our level 12 room was clean, quiet and comfortable, with a lovely Perth view. The bed and pillows were so comfortable that we slept really well. It’s an easy walk into the city during the day, though I’d recommend Uber at night. There’s paid parking close by for $20 overnight, about a five-minute walk. The gym looked good, but we didn’t get to use it. First time staying here and we really enjoyed it. Would happily come again!
