Murdoch University Village

The village management, especially the village manager, doesn’t take the students’ well-being and mental health into consideration.

I was an ex-resident of Murdoch University Village, and I enjoyed living there back when I was a student, for the service, amenities and convenience. Later, while applying for a visa, I had trouble proving I’d lived in Perth because I’d lost some tenancy agreements. The admin staff at Murdoch University Village were patient, attentive and quick to provide, free of charge, a signed confirmation letter saying I’d lived there during my time as a student at Murdoch University. I’d wholeheartedly recommend Murdoch University Village to any student at Murdoch University or another university. You’re in good hands.

There’s poor management and poor security, with lots of break-ins, stolen items and damaged property. The Wi-Fi connection is poor too. So many things are going wrong with this accommodation.

I wouldn’t recommend South Village. The accommodation is dirty and cheap, and cockroaches and other animals fall into your coffee mug or crawl into your socks. They’ll send someone to deal with them, but the roaches never left. There was a lot of hair stuck on my wall, seemingly in the wall colour. I couldn’t scrape it off, and every night I had to lie in bed staring at it. The rooms get very cold in winter, and you’re not allowed to buy or bring your own heater. The heaters they provide do nothing and turn themselves off after a short time anyway. The laundry rooms were very dirty, and the washing machines were always broken. This isn’t suitable for temporary international students who don’t want to bring or buy furniture. You have to buy everything, even lamps, bed sheets, cutlery, pots and pans. The flats have cockroaches and other animals. The rooms felt like a prison.
