It looked lovely and worked well for a one-night stop on the way up to Broome. Getting in was quick, and communication with the operators was easy. There were a few problems, though: the bathroom light didn’t work, the fire alarm wasn’t activated, and the sheets looked as if they hadn’t been changed.

Our car broke down on the way, so we couldn’t arrive on the night we’d booked. I called just after lunchtime to cancel, less than 24 hours after making the booking, but they still charged the full room price and offered neither a refund nor a different date. Reception showed no compassion or politeness, and gave us an implausible story that they couldn’t sell the room, even though the website showed six rooms vacant that night. We regularly travel between Broome and Perth, but we won’t stay here, and we’ll advise others to avoid it too.

The bed was comfortable and the room neat and clean. The shower had virtually no cold water and only a tiny trickle. It felt overpriced, though the remote location does make that understandable.

Having a double bed is a real luxury when you work on the roads and keep changing accommodation. The place was clean and comfortable, and there are laundry facilities.
