Samson Beach Chalets

The rooms have nice art, and there’s a good outdoor area with a dishwasher. It’s also a short walk to the beach and the Tavern.

The pool was stunning, and we had an incredible stay. Staff were friendly, rooms clean, showers hot with lovely water pressure, and washing was free. 11/10. Happy hour at the pub was a bonus too.

The location is fantastic, but the sites themselves aren’t. We’d booked 12 months ahead, then on arrival were told there’d been changes. The site we were put on was tiny and barely fit our tent, with nowhere to park our car or boat. We were told we’d have to leave them in a public car park off site, which is unacceptable. We paid the same rate for a tent site that others pay for a van site, so expected somewhere to park our car as well. The neighbours were right on top of us; we could hear their very quiet radio crystal clear. This simply wasn’t what we’d booked, and we left eight days early.

Check-in and checkout were done by collecting and leaving a key in a basket at the office, and I didn’t see any staff. The bed and other amenities were okay, but I won’t stay again. For $250 a night, the bathroom wasn’t worth it, more like something from an old hospital. The room was near the pool, which was a good spot, but when I opened the door it smelled as if someone had been smoking inside. Other guests were sitting outside with an ashtray, so maybe the door had been left open. Reviews had suggested good value, but I was disappointed once I arrived.
