Alpine Riverside Cottages

Narelle and Steve were such lovely hosts, and there’s also a great massage available. The place sits by the Ovens river, where it’s so relaxing to sit and swim. What a beautiful spot. Looking forward to coming back next year.

Narelle made us feel welcome from the start. She’s friendly, easy to talk to, and really accommodating. Our two nights in the Riverside Studio style cottage (#09) were just what we needed. It’s right by the river, with a peaceful atmosphere that makes it easy to switch off. The cottage was clean and tidy, with everything we wanted: a fridge, microwave, oven, good heating, a decent sized bathroom, a comfortable setup, and a TV for unwinding in the evening. It’s also handy for exploring Mt Buffalo National Park. I’d happily stay again and recommend it if you’re after a laid back place in a good location.

Steve and Narelle are lovely hosts, always ready to help and full of local knowledge about places to visit. The rooms are spacious and have all the useful amenities you need. There’s plenty to do, including a pool table, fuse ball, BBQ, playground, and more. Outside, it feels like nature at its finest. If you’re lucky, you might spot echidna, platypus, fish, or frogs, though you have to go looking for them. Lulu and pip, the friendly dog mascots, love to run around, play, and hand out cuddles. We come back every year and always look forward to the next trip. Well worth staying.

The staff and their dogs were the loveliest part, and I can’t wait to return for a holiday someday. I was in Porepunkah for work and couldn’t have asked for a better home away from home. The rooms are basic but clean and warm, with everything you need, and the bed was super comfy. The Ovens River and snow capped mountain behind it made for a stunning view. Thanks for having me.
