Port Douglas on Macrossan

The location on the ocean end of popular Macrossan Street is good, and the rooms are clean and comfortable, even if the hotel feels tired. But we weren’t expecting an AirBNB experience. There’s no one at reception at any time. On arrival, a sign told us to pick up the phone and call someone, who then explained how to get the key. There are lots of stairs, sometimes up and then down half a flight to reach your level, and you may have to go down stairs again at the far end to get to your room. There’s no lift, only a clunky goods lift for sending luggage up or down while you take the stairs. The Accor Membership welcome drinks were two small bottles of soft drink. I assumed they’d been left in the fridge by the previous guests. This hotel shouldn’t be part of the Accor group.

It’s right in the heard of Port Douglas and our room was very big with a lovely view. We stayed just one night and thought it was very good value for the money. It’s not a modern or luxurious hotel, but you can still have a good time there.

We’ve stayed here several times and keep coming back for our staycation from Cairns. The rooms are comfy and close to restaurants and places like the sunday markets. Thanks for accommodating our requests.

The rooms are clean and comfortable, though nearby Pubs can make things noisy at night. It has everything you need for a romantic getaway, but keep in mind there are no lifts if you have mobility issues.
