We found this place by chance on a last minute deal and were thrilled with it. The two bedroom apartment was comfortable and well equipped, with aircon in both bedrooms, a new TV, a kitchen stocked for cooking, and extra beach towels. The staff were lovely too. There’s a cafe on the corner, the only netted swimming beach is at the end of the street, and town is a 5-10 minute walk away. The pool was amazing, large and clean, with plenty of chairs. You can easily manage without a car since the beach, shops and restaurants are all walkable, though there’s a car hire place on the Main Street for day trips. There’s free parking for each unit as well, handy if family or little kids struggle with the heat or need extra help. Loved our relaxed, comfy stay and highly recommend it.

We stayed in August 2025 and had a great setup for four people: two bedrooms, each with a nice bathroom, plus a good kitchen and balcony for cooking and meals. The beach was amazingly close, about a one minute walk. Shops on the main street and the marina were both an easy walk too. The pool was great and quiet while we were there, and we made good use of the BBQ for dinner most nights. Highly recommend for families with kids.

The location worked so well for us, with the beach a minute away and town about a 10 minute walk, so we didn’t need a car. The rooms were clean and tidy with a modern fit-out, and the pool was long, spacious, and always clean. The BBQ and toilet facilities by the pool were great too. Martin was friendly and welcoming throughout. We loved our comfortable stay at Mowbray By The Sea and will come back when we return to Port Douglas. 10/10.

For the price, it’s good value given the space and location. The beach swimming area is nearby, and it’s an easy walk to the main shopping street. Our apartment was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed, though it looked a little run down and less modern than the photos on the site. The pool was nice, but could use a bit more maintenance.

Our family room had two bedrooms, one with a king bed and one with twin singles, two ensuites, a good kitchen, and a lounge. We enjoyed having meals on the balcony. The pool was warm, though it can get a bit crowded, and the poolside BBQ could use an upgrade. It’s a short walk to the main shopping strip and about 10 minutes on foot to the wharf for the reef boats.
